Why do I need SEO Consultancy?

 

The main reason that most webs need SEO Consultancy is that SEO is NOT SEM (Search Engine Marketing), and most websites and most "SEO Agencies" have been more focused on "configuring" your website for Paid Ads (SEM) based on your "list of keywords" rather than on "optimizing your content" for Organic Traffic (SEO).

As we discussed on another page ("Why is SEO Important?"), in "normal" economic times, this focus on PAID TRAFFIC (SEM), specifically Google Ads, can give an excellent return on investment (ROI). But we are not in "normal" economic times, and it is critical to understand that "optimizing" for SEO is NOT the same as "configuring" for SEM.

SEO is NOT SEM!

Did I mention already that SEO is NOT SEM? Pardon the repetition, but I have given many presentations with that title, many explanations, and examples, only to be greeted by smiles and nods of comprehension, followed by a list of 100 keywords from Google Adwords that the customer wants on page #1 tomorrow.

Unfortunately, in SEO, there is no "Adwords Control Panel" where we can type in a long keyword list. SEO is hard work, and it is SLOW. It requires analysis of existing traffic and content to extract the potential "key phrases" or "queries" and then to "optimize" the relevant pages for those "queries". All this extra work makes SEO less profitable than SEM for the supplier.

The benefits of SEO for the customer, however, are huge. SEO has long-lasting effects, generates quality traffic, and is uneffected by economic downturns.

Put another way:
  • SEO is VERY good for YOU
  • SEM is VERY good for Google

EC Center ONLY does SEO!

Part of this SEO/SEM confusion is because "SEO" has always been used as a "catchphrase" by Marketing Companies eager to sell you SEM (Google Adwords).

It is very unusual that a Digital Agency ONLY does SEO like EC Center.

In fact, we are usually a little "suspicious" of any agency that brands themselves as SEO Suppliers while making their income from SEM. If your "SEO Supplier" suggests that you do an Ads Campaign with them to "boost" the "SEO Effect", then your supplier is an SEM Supplier. They work for Google. EC Center is an SEO Supplier. Why is this important?

Because there is a very fine line between an "over configured" SEM website, where you add all the ADWORDS and GTM and GA4 tags that Google requests you to, and a very "DEOPTIMIZED" SEO website.

Information is power, and Google (SEM) wants as much information about your website (GA4), your business (ADWORDS), your users (AUDIENCES), and YOU (your company, contact details, CEO, etc.) as possible.

 

Therefore, the ideal GTM setup for SEM contains a huge amount of "SEM" code that greatly affects the User Experience. This has become especially apparent recently as Google pushes current SEM suppliers hard to increase the level of GTM configuration to levels never seen before by offering FREE Google resources (subcontractors that follow a specific Google configuration procedure) to do the configuration for them. This, of course, has set alarm bells ringing in the more observant customers and SEM suppliers, the latter very wary that Google may end up contacting their customers directly.

What SEO Consultancy Services do you Offer?

 

As part of our consultancy work with customers and SEM Suppliers, we offer a series of SEO services that do not oblige the customer or the supplier to change their current platform, design, or CMS. There is no "silver bullet" in SEO, but it is true that for 20% of the effort, you can achieve 80% of the benefit. In a Site Audit, we identify the most serious SEO Bottlenecks in a specific web and propose solutions. The audit will examine Technical, Design, and Content issues and define the solutions. The audit will also identify SEO opportunities and possible enhancements significantly affecting the website's performance.

SEO Strategy

 

EC Center will conduct a detailed analysis of your sector and identify the opportunities to gain a significant foothold in the Search Engine. This type of consultancy is critical in certain B2B websites to avoid confusion between selling to the end user (B2C) and selling to a distributor (B2B). It is also critical for B2B websites in the "supply chain", which do not produce end products but rather parts used in end products. The SEO Strategy document will define the target SEO Footprint, web navigation funnel, and web content. 

Total SEO Consultancy

This service is a pure consultancy where EC Center becomes the SEO department for your company. EC center will use your web platform (or communicate the changes using a predefined procedure) to optimize all your content. This includes modifications to templates, plugins, and standard content optimizations. EC Center will meet with the customer weekly or monthly to review the progress. KPIs can be predefined as part of advanced online SEO reports to monitor real-time SEO progress.

SEM is not Bad

 

EC center does NOT do SEM, but we recognize that SEM can play an important part in a company's digital marketing strategy. EC Center works with many SEM suppliers as their SEO Consultants and SEO suppliers for their end customers.

We have seen how many SEM Suppliers are wary of this sudden interest by Google to "hyper" configure AdWord Campaigns. We have also seen how many SEM suppliers have seen the value of SEO, especially in these times, and have worked with us to find that fine line between an optimized SEM configuration and an optimized SEO configuration.

We have also seen that SEO can often be very slow to take effect (especially if there was a previous Blackhat experience with a previous supplier) and that SEM may be the ONLY way to generate Leads until SEO can finally take full effect.
