Shay has been an active participant in the internet revolution from its inception. Beginning with mainframes and global financial markets in London in the early 1990s, Shay's first challenge was implementing client-server technology to migrate the mainframe "green" screens/terminals (Server) to more manageable and more colourful PC screens (Client) and PC applications like Excel and Visual Basic.

A few years later, the World Wide Web and the HTTP appeared, and Shay was faced with the "opposite" challenge, passing the "heavy" PC Client logic BACK to the "internet server" on the Mainframe. Now the "thin" Client was called "Netscape", and the race was on (between Sun, Silicon Graphics, Microsoft, and others) to build the best Internet "Server".

Fast forward to a world of Amazon, Google, Alibaba, Smart Phones, and Social Networks. It has been a wild ride so far. In Shay's opinion, the best bit is the combination of Search Engines and e-commerce. And that's where EC Centers come in.

Shay's Experience

Shay developed the EC Center concept in Spain 10 years ago to convert a world of "freelancer" web developers and SEO specialists into something more scalable and resilient. Pure SEO is mainly a "freelancer" game, which is good and profitable for the freelancer (at least in the short term) but is NOT good for the customer. What happens when the "freelancer" gets run over by a bus? or decides to change profession? The best SEO strategy for a customer is to work with a Professional SEO Team, or a professional SEO Company. But creating a pure SEO company is easier said than done.

The first EC Center was set up in Madrid and grew to 10 staff and 28 B2C (80%) and B2B (20%) customers in Spain and Ireland. In December 2018, Shay created EC Center Suzhou in China and grew the company and staff over the next four years. The experience of doing business in China is the most refreshing and interesting challenge since the early days, and the productivity and progress of EC Center Suzhou are incomparable to anything experienced before. Despite, or perhaps thanks to, a world pandemic, EC Center Suzhou and Google SEO in China have continued to grow in China. The wild ride continues and shows no sign of slowing down soon.
