EC Engine contains a very powerful SPAM filter which is updated daily. This means that the contacts you get, and the leads you receive are all true leads. We are proud to say that our customers rarely receive SPAM contacts, and if they do, that SPAM is immediately added to the filter to prevent any other EC Engine customers from receiving a similar SPAM.
The EC Engine SPAM Filter is, in fact, a series of different filters used in conjunction with the EC Engine Mail Server, the EC Engine Firewall, and the EC Engine CRM. SPAM filters are a delicate science because it is better to suffer SPAM and NOT lose any Leads rather than have an excessively aggressive filter that results in the loss of Leads due to "false positives".
This is why ALL SPAM messages received by the EC Engine are stored and revised in real-time to detect any false positives. This is the best of both worlds, no SPAM and no Leads lost.
This is the first level of protection against the SPAMMERS. Over the years EC Engine has learned how to profile spammer activity based on IP and can prevent spammers before they even access the customers web. Everything is logged in case there is a need for investigation. The investigation is usually directed more against hackers and bad actors (fake SEM bots and CLICK FARMS) which are usually flagged by the EC Engine CRM.
The EC Engine mail server uses a combination of bayesian filters, word lists, message identity, limits (connections and threads), message contents and a long etcetera. Again the bad actors are logged and flagged in case there is a need for investigation at a later point.
The EC Engine CRM is continuously updating it's SPAM filter accross all the EC Engine webs. We maintain a number of "honeypot" webs that are there to precisely attract and receive SPAM which helps the CRM to check for new versions of SPAM. This is very useful as SPAM tends to come in waves and last years filter is of no use against this years SPAM.
The Thrill of the HuntThe EC Engine CRM also redirects the Spammers to certain algorithms, which will keep the spammer entertained while we collect more and more data.
The CRM distinguishes between SPAM Bots and Human Spammers and has different pursuit and capture strategies for each.
It is true that our technical department sometimes spends a bit too much time stalking and pursuing bad actors attracted to EC Engine or to our customers. Watching their techniques is very informative as it shows us the hacking and spamming techniques that bad actors use against more popular platforms such as WordPress, Nginx, ThinkPHP, etc.
EC Center always takes defensive action and always acts to protect our customers. We will not attack or actively chase bad actors beyond the confines of the EC Engine platform.
Less SPAM, More LeadsAt the end of the day, we are all very busy, and while it may be entertaining to watch the efforts of spammers and bad actors, the truth of the matter is that SPAM and SPAMMERS are a waste of everyone's time. EC Engine customers do NOT waste any time on SPAM because they only receive real contacts.
