The Challenges of Content SEO

Published: 1/7/2021 | Views: 257 | Author: Charlotte | Category: Content SEO | Tag: AI and Content

Content SEO is the easiest part of SEO to understand but it is very difficult to do correctly. Before investing a large amount of time in creating content that you think will help you position better you need to be aware several factors may prevent success.

Technical knowledge and SEO copywriting

Attempts at content-driven SEO may fail due to the twin barriers of technical knowledge and copywriting ability. In many B2B environments, company and product knowledge is often too complex for SEO agents to research and write about. In addition, the ability of SEO agents to write good content is often overestimated, and the results can be subpar.

Content-driven strategies are also time-consuming, especially when the starting point of a website is very underdeveloped. Customers may begin with such an insignificant collection of content that the website launches on almost barren ground. This puts unreasonable pressure on agents to write thousands of words of content to populate empty web pages.

Difficulties in collecting SEO data

If data is only collected sporadically, data-based SEO action evaluations are impossible. SEO actions must be informed by data and then tracked after completion to measure efficacy. However, sporadic data collection creates holes in the agent's understanding of the outcomes of their actions and the website's performance.

Misunderstanding strategy and purpose

The vision used when taking SEO actions is too narrow, and too much time is spent on unproductive tasks that do not contribute to increased website performance. When SEO actions are based on data gathered from a single narrow source, then they are unlikely to yield tremendous results. Equally, when actions are taken without a clear intention, they may not lead to any meaningful results.

In addition, the purpose of a website may not be fully understood. For example, it could be the customer's primary B2B sales lead generator but only be seen as an electronic business card. This could mean the website fails as a vehicle for a client to find customers. Agents may not realize that how the website is presented can affect how potential customers assess the professionalism and expertise of the client. As such, the quality and success of SEO actions can directly impact the client's brand image.
