What is the reason that your B2B website SEO has been unable to achieve results?

There are often companies confidently found a supplier to do B2B website SEO, but a year down, almost no results or the performance did not meet expectations; in the end, what is the reason?

Regardless of your service provider doing "black hat," the technology is mediocre; if the other party's technology passes the test and seriously optimizes the website for white hat SEO, the effect is still unsatisfactory. According to past project cases, there may be the following: Reasons:

1. Not enough pages on the website.

According to research data, a website with 51-100 pages can generate 48% more traffic than a website with < 50 pages.

For B2B foreign trade websites, a large amount of information (number of pages) is needed to build brand awareness so that more pages can appear in the search engine results so that potential customers can find you, convert them into orders, and support the company's long-term marketing strategy. If the industry is slightly competitive, at least 100+ pages are required, and by adding small languages, the number of pages can reach 500+ or even more.

The picture below analyzes peer websites we did for a client. Searching for core keywords, #1, #2, and #3 are the three industry giants on the Google homepage. Even though we already have 589 pages, we are still far behind the industry leader (18300 pages).
Not enough pages on the website
If the "effect" you expect is to get keywords to the Google homepage, then you can look at the ten pits on the current homepage. Excluding Wikipedia, Nytimes, and other traffic sites with their own weight, how many positions are left? Please look at the number of pages of their websites and the update frequency of their blogs one by one, and then weigh whether you have the capital to squeeze any of them out of the homepage.

2. Poor quality of copywriting.

If your website has enough pages, then look at the website copywriting. Are they all original? Is there keyword stuffing? Do all product pages present product features, specifications, applications, customization, quality assurance, and other information in detail? Does the FAQ page answer all the questions that target customers may encounter one by one? There are also pages such as company introduction, industry certificates, and case studies. Have you tried to enrich the pictures and texts so that customers feel you are a reliable supplier in this industry?

There are often customers who want to save the trouble and directly copy the product descriptions of the Ali store to the independent website with one click, and some upload 100-200 products in batches at once, with only titles and no descriptions, and put a few parameters. In this case, it is normal that there is no effect. The blog has not been updated for ten thousand years...

3. Keyword positioning deviation.

We have an outdoor project. He wanted the keyword camping tents to have a relatively high ranking. We directly told him that it was difficult to do. Why? Google it, and the first few pages are all mainstream B2C malls such as Walmart, Amazon, Wayfair, etc. Then this term does not apply to B2B, and it is difficult to rank well no matter how much time and effort is spent. You can only add long-tail words (manufacturer, supplier, wholesale, OEM/ODM, etc.) or try it.

When we are laying out keywords, we can Google them first. If the first few pages are all B2B platforms like Alibaba, Made-in-china, Global source, and other peers, or if there are more B2B sites than B2C sites, this word will have a chance to be used.

4. The product market is small.

For another project, coffee equipment, the three core keywords recommended by the customer have all reached the homepage of Google, and several other keywords have reached 2-3 pages. The website's monthly traffic is also growing steadily, with about N seals per month. For service providers, the ranking and traffic are actually the SEO effect they have made, and the effect that customers value may be the inquiry, and they will say that there is no breakthrough in the inquiry...

If your core keywords are on the homepage, and the number of inquiries is fixed every month, the product is not large. The market search volume and demand are not high (if the keywords of your peers rank behind you, there are more inquiries than yours, so there may be additional marketing or unfiltered spam inquiries...)
Tips: Some companies have N inquiries/month in the first year and expect 2N inquiries/month in the second year. This may be achievable with additional investment in SEM or a few top-tier sites in the industry. SEO inquiries normally increase yearly, and the growth rate is affected by industry volume, product prices, regular updates, and Google algorithm changes. In addition, the fish in the pond are not "inexhaustible," and more and more people are fishing, and the amount of fish is also decreasing.

5. The website has a "black" history.

A website starts from 0 to do SEO better than from -10; what does it mean?
If you don't have a website before, starting from building a website, this website is like a blank piece of paper. The website will develop benignly using white hat SEO techniques, and the traffic data will increase steadily.

If your website has done black hat SEO in the last service provider, the website level is equal to -10 or even lower. The result is that the search engine may delist the brand. For example, some companies will copy some of your pages too many other phishing websites, thinking that you "spread the net widely and catch more fish." Then Google will be very confused; who is the real XYZXYZ?

The website has a

For example, at the beginning of our cooperation with a certain project, we found nearly 30 toxic backlinks associated with its site, which would affect the ranking of search engines. We needed to use the Disavow tools of Webmaster Tools to inform Google to ignore these Poison chains promptly.

white hat SEO

After a year of white hat SEO, the website traffic slowly increased. Still, the inquiries did not meet the customer's expectations (ranking impact), the service expired, the customer did not renew the contract, and a third-party network company was found to host the website. The traffic was direct Swoop landing... a pity. So if your website has a black history and the domain name is not so "popular," you can consider building a new website starting from 0.
