Why is using ChatGpt to generate a blog in one click bad for Google SEO?

Published: 10/7/2023 | Views: 1543 | Author: Charlotte | Category: Content SEO

The rise of AI has revolutionized the way people create content. With the help of AI, we can generate large amounts of text in minutes. It's tempting to use ChatGPT to generate blogs to standalone sites in one click, and businesses can generate content faster and more efficiently than ever before. So many people will ask if the use of AI-generated content for standalone sites will lead to Google penalties?

Google has always advocated high-quality original content to provide users with the most relevant and valuable content possible.

Google won't penalize you for one-click AI-generated content. Google's position is this: It doesn't matter what you use to create content as long as you create something of value to users and not game search engines.

Why is it not recommended to use ChatGpt to generate blogs for B2B websites?

  • Lack of creativity
Your blog must attract potential users. The topics and opinions are hot topics in your industry. They solve the pain points of target users, let users see your professionalism as a supplier, build trust, and ultimately drive them to send inquiries and purchases. This is hard to do with AI-generated content. AI models are trained on existing data and patterns, which limits their ability to think outside the box and any innovative ideas. By nature, AI-written content is dull and devoid of empathy and human experience. The SERP has thousands of sites "competing" for a user's attention. If you publish some mechanical and dull content generated by AI in batches, you will not be competitive in SERP. Even if Google "does not punish," it will "ignore it." These contents will not bring any weight to the website and will not add points to SEO. So what's the point of updating your blog?
  • Inaccurate information
AI can often generate inaccurate or misleading information, especially on highly specialized topics. A good blog ideally contains updated, relevant, and trustworthy information. As a manufacturer in the industry, the articles published on the independent website must be professional and authoritative, especially regarding products (specifications, types, parameters, installation, etc.), and you must write your own to ensure the accuracy of the content. It's very simple. For example, your target user intends to find a supplier on Google and needs to purchase 1,000 devices in batches. Then he must be professional in this industry. If he reads your AI blog and finds a lot of wrong information, his intuition is that your manufacturer is unreliable and unprofessional. Naturally, I will not send an inquiry and leave the website directly to find the next partner.

Note: ChatGPT can only access information as of September 2021.

  • Lack of originality

If you use AI to generate many blogs, your peers will do the same. The AI will output the same information for every query, even if everyone's questioning will be slightly different. If you copy and paste the AI-generated content directly to your standalone site, the same information will likely appear on many of your peers' sites. Let's say, for example, there are 10 outdoor camping equipment suppliers, and 9 of them all use AI to generate a blog: "What are the factors to consider when buying an outdoor tent?" (where you can replace the product with your own core product keywords) are you confident that this AI article of yours will stand out and stand out? No, the output of these 9 AI articles will be basically the same, and the repetition rate will be quite high. The result is that these 9 articles all have no weight and will not bring any traffic. This kind of AI-generated duplicate content is also bound to affect the SEO rankings of independent websites. Suppose these 9 providers, because of the use of AI to generate a large number of duplicate, low-quality content, 9 were downgraded. In that case, the only one that did not use AI, even if they did not do anything, Site rankings may suddenly improve one day because peers are going backward (we have real examples of this).

Once Google determines that your content is plagiarized or duplicated, it will cause Google to penalize your website or lower its ranking on SERP.

How to correctly use AI to assist independent station SEO?

Of course, that's not to say you should avoid AI at all. Google doesn't care if the content is created by people as long as it's created for people. Google aims to provide users with high-quality, relevant, and valuable content. AI-generated content is no exception. You can use ChatGPT to generate 10 topics for your keywords, brainstorm, give you some good ideas or inspiration, and even design a quick outline or framework.

In addition, the ability to ask AI questions should be strengthened. Especially in the B2B industry, the more specific and professional your questions are, the more relevant content you may generate. However, this content cannot be used directly. It must be manually edited and polished, adding your experience, professional opinions, etc.

In conclusion:

While AI can help generate articles quickly, it also pays attention to high quality and relevance. Low-quality content that doesn't add value to users will likely result in poor rankings on SERPs. Google constantly updates its algorithm to encourage high-quality, relevant content and discourage low-quality, spammy content. While Google doesn't penalize websites for using AI-generated content, ensuring high quality, relevance, originality, and user experience are key factors in a website's ranking. AI can only be used as an auxiliary tool. We must learn how to use it to help ourselves and improve work efficiency instead of relying entirely on AI to generate articles in batches.
